Regaining Focus in Turbulent Times:
Pastoring and Preaching
It is easy to grasp onto the wrong thing when we are driven by fear and anxiety. Rev. Alan Storey, who grew up in Apartheid South Africa, has seen first hand what it can mean when we hold on to the wrong thing. But when we hold close to the One True Thing - God's abundant love for us and for all - it shapes everything we do. Join us as Alan helps us to reflect on this and how it focuses our pastoring and preaching.

Called as Community in Fractured Times
6:30: Gathering for music and light snacks; 6:45 - 8:00 event
Free and open to the public. Registration not required.
Location: St. John’s Hall, St. John's Lutheran Church, 500 third Street West
Recent events in our community have revealed fractures in our lives together and also demonstrated the depth and breadth of our care for our neighbors. Each of us lives from a theology of what we value and believe. What can stories from resistance movements in this country and in South Africa teach us about the calls to continued courage and healing in this present moment? Prompted by questions from Northfield community members, Alan Storey - South African activist, preacher and story-teller - will engage with us in conversation about how we might live into our commitments to community wholeness.
